Floor Plan
The theme of our conference this year is “Collaborate for Literacy @
Your Library.” In keeping with that theme, we will have
presentations that relate to “literacy” in its broadest terms: print,
media, information. This will be a great year to bring a team from your
school -- reading teacher, language arts teacher, and library media
specialist.
We’ll kick off our theme on Tuesday
with Toni Buzzeo, library media specialist, children’s author, and author of
professional books on collaborating to meet standards. Read more
about her work at http://www.tonibuzzeo.com/index.html
Toni will stay with us for a couple of additional breakouts sessions and
an author signing. At lunch on Tuesday we will hear from Cynthia
Lord author of the Great Stone Face nominee Rules. Check her out at http://www.cynthialord.com/
In the afternoon, Cynthia will present a breakout session on books to use
in bridging the gap between children and their disabled peers.
Expanding our definitions of literacy
will be perennial favorites Nancy
Keane (http://nancykeane.com/),
Michael Sullivan
(http://www.talestoldtall.com/index.html)
and Chris Rose.
Nancy and Michael will team to bring us a new version of their popular
“He Said, She Said” presentation!
On Wednesday, we will
begin the day with a message from Nate Greenberg,
Londonderry
’s Superintendent of Schools who was named the 2007 AASL Distinguished
Administrator and SLJ/Greenwood Publisher Administrator of the Year.
At lunch on Wednesday we will hear from Stephen
Abram, Vice President for Innovation and Chief Strategist for
SirsiDynix and an internationally known speaker, who will talk about the
top seven strategies for library success in the new millennium.
